Waiting Game
Who: Agatha
What: waiting for the Supply Run of Danger Team
When: during supply run
Where: Tavern
Day had followed the discussion with the fae, refraining to chime in, but nonetheless unhappy about Aen’kaes plan to go straight into danger. Not that he’d argued. Just worried, help him prepare to the best of his ability. Borrowed him the lucky pebble, the one Jack once got from the bathroom cowboy, the one that’d been his first gift at the gas station – kissed him goodbye, in private.
And then he’d asked Agatha to stay behind, in case of a rescue. He still remembered her ease with explosive and how well she’d handled… him, back at the pirate attack. Was a way of thanking her for that too, now that no twisted words stood between. Which had been a bit too long in the going between him needing to find back to normal, what the humming did to Aen’kae, the fae’s egg surprises…
With how destroyed the lounge still was, he’d invited her to wait with him in the tavern instead. Brought his knitting, one of his children books, some papers with homework – anything to pass the time. To keep his hands busy in a way that wasn’t dangerous to other people. “I haven’t properly said sorry for what happened before.” he started. “Not that I wanted to hurt you. Just… get past. Make you go away.”

She had also brought things to work on while she waited with him. Specifically she tried to pick things she wouldn't get too lost in the Madness while working on. How successful she would be at restraint... was yet to be seen.
When he spoke, she looked up from the gear she was soldering ball bearings onto. She offered a soft smile. "I get it. Actually it felt a little like home..." she admitted shaking her head with a rueful half smile.

"...Can't bring me to the medbay anyway. I'd react just as badly." There's a reason Aen'kae treated him outside of it.

At least it keeps him from worrying about Aen'kae. "Feels like I'm still Republics creature after all this time..."
